All women, young adults, and children who experience physical, emotional, or sexual abuse in their relationships are served by Nottinghamshire Womens Aid Ltd. We provide access to (temporary) housing, guidance, continuous assistance, and aftercare.
The uneven status of women in society is acknowledged by Nottinghamshire Womens Aid Ltd as a contributing factor to violence against women. All types of emotional, physical, and sexual abuse against women, children, and teenagers are unacceptable to us. We are devoted to the idea of self-help and self-determination, and we support and empower women who are looking for guidance, knowledge, support, or safety to make their own life decisions.
The organisation known as Bassetlaw Womens Aid Limited was founded in 1984 by a group of women who recognised the need for a refuge in Bassetlaw for women, young people, and children who were fleeing domestic abuse.
After seeking input from its members, Bassetlaw Womens Aid Limited changed its name to Nottinghamshire Womens Aid Limited in 2006, marking a transition in the organization's structure from collective to linear administration.
The organization's initial goals were to satisfy the urgent needs of Women, Young People, and Children by offering assistance and a temporary haven of safety in the Refuge, but as time went on, it grew and expanded its services in response to demand, offering a variety of support and housing services.
A board of trustees oversees Nottinghamshire Womens Aid Limited, a registered charity and company limited by guarantee.
