Burton Hathow is a family orientated, Independent Preparatory School for children aged 2-11, rated 'Excellent' in all areas. Set in over five acres of wooded grounds in Lincolnshire, we pride ourselves on providing the best educational experience for children in a safe and happy environment, thoroughly preparing each child for their next step in education and in life. Traditional values, combined with a contemporary curriculum, provide children with a stimulating education both inside and outside of the classroom.

At Burton Hathow, we do things differently. There’s no blanket syllabus; no repetitive, basic teaching framework. Our children don’t sit in a classroom and copy the same phrases out of the same text books that have been used as standard for all the children that came before them. Our children don’t sit and struggle, wishing their teacher would provide something more engaging as they learn best through interaction. Our children don’t sit quietly by the side-lines as the louder ones in a huge class of 30+ dominate the conversation. We do things differently.

Our classes are, on average, 12 students strong. Our specialist teachers are experts in their particular area of study, not overworked and stretched to the limit trying to juggle several different subjects: our music teacher is a professional musician, our sports coach plays professionally, even our caterers are trained chefs! In this way, our teachers can not only teach from a more informed and passionate standing, but they also serve as windows for your child into a specific profession. Children are therefore able to glean on the experience of multiple professional and established role-models, rather than staff working exclusively within the teaching profession.
